One of the most in demand professions out there today is the field of nursing. This is due to the fact that there’s a large shortage of nurses not only in the United States but throughout the world. Four Year College or University Admission
One of the great first steps is that you’re first getting into a regular four year college. The higher the grades the better of course, however, you’ll need to get a C. at minimum. Almost always C- will never be acceptable if you do get this grade or lower you’re going to need to retake the class prior to applying for your nursing program. This is going to cover at minimum one year period of time; however, it usually takes two years to complete all the general education and nursing prerequisites.
Take Your TEAS
These tests are called the test for essential academic skills. You’ll want to prepare yourself and get the absolutely highest score possible. If you don’t you should make the consideration to retake it due to the fact that it will heighten your opportunities of getting into the program. If this reminds you of the SATs it is somewhat similar, just nursing based.
Foreign-Language
You should make the consideration of taking foreign-language classes as it will help give you an advantage. Any foreign-language will help; however, Spanish is your best choice.
Volunteer Work
Volunteering is only going to help you and while you’re finishing up with your courses you should look for volunteer opportunities in local homes and hospitals. This can serve as an advantage due to the fact that it’s going to be practical experience in hands-on patient care, not to mention the fact that it will look amazing on your application.

Make sure that you ask the school that you’re going to about any specific requirements they have due to the fact that it will have variance. Once you’ve done all of this you can go and apply for your nursing program. You’ll find out in as little as a couple of weeks from some schools, however, there are others that will take longer.
